Northern or Walleye Bake

Ingredients:

  • Light Olive Oil (or canola oil works fine)
  • Garlic Salt
  • Pepperidge Farm Herb Seasoned Stuffing (14oz. bag is enough for 2- 9X11 pans or 8-10 people) Crush stuffing in a Ziploc bag or use Italian breadcrumbs.
  • Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese or Fresh Shredded Parmesan Cheese
    (preferred)
  • Walleye or Northern Fillets (best if y-bones are removed)
  • Flat pan for baking (glass 9X11 works best but flat sheet pans lined with foil work fine)

Directions:

Lightly sprinkle fillets with garlic salt. Place fillets and enough oil to coat in plastic bag and shake to coat fillets (can also be done in pan used for baking fish). Marinate fillets for 45-60 min.

Oil baking pan generously. Put light coating of even texture of stuffing on bottom of pan.

Roll fillets in stuffing for an even coating, then arrange tightly in pan. Stack them if you like.

If coating seems to light, sprinkle extra stuffing on top of fillets.

Bake in center rack at 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes depending on thickness of fillets. Once fish is baked, remove for last step.

Sprinkle with shredded cheese and broil until cheese is melted and starts to brown.
